The awesome Rocket to Russia album receives the 40th anniversary treatment and it's a good one. I'm a huge fan of this album and enjoy the alternate tracks especially Ramona and Here Today acoustic version. Definitely my favorite of the 40th anniversary releases so far.

Even when Joey's microphone cuts out they just keep on playing during Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment. Good short set of their best loved songs. I learned to play Here Today and KKK on bass from this performance.

These are some interviews with CJ that Fender did. He talks about how he got into the Ramones which is a cool story actually. He served his country and served us Ramones fans. I like the "bloody stump" line, funny but true. I've picked up the bass guitar and have been learning Ramones songs so I can relate. Lots of downpicking! Here is also a CJ era Ramones music video from their first appearance on the Tonight Show. Ramones music forever because that's what this blog is all about!

Dee Dee Solo Projects

Dee Dee Ramone Funky Man video. He left the Ramones to do this. I like it though, has that fun beat with the synth. Another of his solo ventures as Dee Dee King was the album Standing in the Spotlight. Mash Potato Time has him rapping in what can only be described as a Monster Mash type of melody and voice. Very weird. And of course the Crusher which the Ramones recorded with CJ. Dee Dee has 4 other solo albums that are more straight up Ramones style, Zonked, Hop Around, Greatest & Latest and I Hate Freaks Like You which contained Making Monsters for My Friends, also done by The Ramones. As these solo works show, Dee Dee was one of a kind.
