Ramones to receive Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award

The organizers of the Grammy Awards have announced that The Ramones will be receiving a lifetime achievement in February. They will receive their statuettes at an event in Los Angeles on February 12, a day before the 53rd annual Grammy Awards ceremony is held. The Ramones will join Julie Andrews of The Sound of Music, Dolly Parton and Roy Haynes in the ceremony. The Ramones are notable in the category as they are the only lifetime achievement honourees who have never received a traditional Grammy award.

Sadly, Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee are not alive to receive the honor.

Ramones make NY playlist

New York magazine published a playlist of the "most New York" songs written since 1965. The Ramones song Rockaway Beach was listed at number 6.

"As harmonic and jubilant as any Beach Boys surf classic, this is a three-chord summertime anthem for bored kids left with nothing but fire hydrants and public pools" commented NY magazine.
