Even when Joey's microphone cuts out they just keep on playing during Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment. Good short set of their best loved songs. I learned to play Here Today and KKK on bass from this performance.

These are some interviews with CJ that Fender did. He talks about how he got into the Ramones which is a cool story actually. He served his country and served us Ramones fans. I like the "bloody stump" line, funny but true. I've picked up the bass guitar and have been learning Ramones songs so I can relate. Lots of downpicking! Here is also a CJ era Ramones music video from their first appearance on the Tonight Show. Ramones music forever because that's what this blog is all about!

Dee Dee Solo Projects

Dee Dee Ramone Funky Man video. He left the Ramones to do this. I like it though, has that fun beat with the synth. Another of his solo ventures as Dee Dee King was the album Standing in the Spotlight. Mash Potato Time has him rapping in what can only be described as a Monster Mash type of melody and voice. Very weird. And of course the Crusher which the Ramones recorded with CJ. Dee Dee has 4 other solo albums that are more straight up Ramones style, Zonked, Hop Around, Greatest & Latest and I Hate Freaks Like You which contained Making Monsters for My Friends, also done by The Ramones. As these solo works show, Dee Dee was one of a kind.

Tommy Ramone passes away at 65

Tommy Ramone passed away July 11th at the age of 65. The last of the original 4 Ramones. Tommy played drums and produced the first 3 albums. In his later years he played in a bluegrass band called Uncle Monk. They are reunited now, I'm sure rocking the afterlife. Posts from bands all over the world appeared on the Ramones facebook page. The Los Angeles band X posted this: "There would be no X if not for the Ramones . RIP Tommy, Johnny, Joey, and Dee Dee." I'm sure that sentiment is shared by the countless bands they influenced over the years. I added some videos of Tommy playing acoustic versions of Ramones songs and an interview.

Pet Sematary

While searching for videos in the compilation below, I ran across this official video for Pet Sematary. I hadn't seen this one in a long time and watching it again I couldn't help but be all creeped out at the sight of The Ramones as they are slowly being lowered into a grave then topped with a grave marker. Yikes. Given the early demise of Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee this video is pretty hard to watch now. I find it kinda ghoulish and sad really. Anyway, here is the video, judge for yourself:
